The technical part is not soo much my kind of stuff. But I will plunge into the matter in order to have an idea of what to do when we meet marvelous musicians during our trip. A few months ago a gentleman who has his own music production label in Belgium advised us to use professionnal material, otherwise the recordings may be lacking the quality we would like to obtain. Olivier went on different forums on the internet and talked with some music shops in our neighbourhood. Taking into account our financials we decided to reevaluate the budget and buy a professional equipment indeed, but not the most expensive one. Instead of spending 8.061,46 € we decided on an equipment in the range of 2.000 €.

Two weeks ago Olivier went to what became one of his favorite shops in Paris in the neigbourhood of Pigale called "the Microphone". They gave very good advice and finally we decided to purchase the equipment in their shop. Thanks to all the financial help received, we could purchase the following devises:

1 4-channel Portable recorder Edirol R-44 by Roland

2 modular Windshields of the brand Rycote

2 AT4021 Cardoid Condenser Microphones by Audio-technica

2 Windjammers (including their brush) of the brand Rycote

The total costs of these equipments amount to 1.906 euros

Olivier tried it out at home and also registered his father playing the guitar.

The equipment meets our needs and we seem ready to register the different tunes we will be encountering.

We also purchased a book "Théorie et pratique de la prise de son stéréophonique". In english that would be the something like: Theory and practice about stéréo sound recording.

The pictures and the recordings will follow shortly.
